We think of you in silence
No eyes can see us weep
But in our hearts dear classmates
Your memory we’ll always keep

Dear PHS’60 Classmates,

It has been fifty years since we marched across the stage at the Passaic High School Stadium to collect our diplomas. We were ready to go forth and show the world what we could accomplish with the education gained from our three years at PHS. We felt so grown up, but in reality we were so young and naïve. As the years went by, many of us went on to technical or vocational schools, colleges, universities, and other places of higher education while some went directly into the work world. We entered a wide variety of occupations, professions and vocations, not forgetting that many of us took the time to raise and provide for our families.

We went our separate ways, crossing paths from time to time, sometimes planned and other times by chance. Bumping into a former Passaicite always gave us the chance to play “Passaic geography”.  “Did you know so-and-so?”  or  “Have you heard from what’s-his-name?”  A brief encounter often led to a prolonged trip down memory lane.

We are no longer young and naïve. We’ve come fifty years. So, tonight is a time for recollections and story telling and do you remembers. It’s a time to rejoice with our classmates who are here tonight and to remember those whom we may never see again. We honor the lifetime achievements of the PHS Class of 1960.

We, the Reunion Committee, have been on a constant high throughout the planning of this event. Thanks to the Internet, we were able to track down and contact so many of our scattered classmates. We spoke with and emailed and sent letters to so many of you, some who are here tonight and others who could not attend. The stories and accomplishments of our classmates recorded in this edition of the RE-ECHO confirm our PHS teachers’ predictions for the overall success of the Class of 1960.

We wish good health, prosperity and long life to all our classmates.

With deepest affection,

The Reunion Committee
