The Greatest Ever Event
The PHS’60 Class Reunion was held at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Fairfield, NJ over the three day weekend (October 29-31).  It was a total success.
The Friday “Meet & Greet” was charged with excitement as about forty of our classmates strolled into the Chives Lounge during the evening.  We were amazed when we saw how little most of us had changed over the past 50 years. The men looked pretty good … but the women were gorgeous. Those shy young girls from our high school years have developed into charming, confident, self-assured women, each with a great sense of humor.
The “Main Event” on Saturday evening saw 113 of our classmates signing in to receive their name tags, many accompanied by their spouses or partners.  We then moved into the cocktail lounge to begin the evening’s festivities. By 6:30pm the lounge was packed with wall to wall people, all of whom were hugging and kissing and rubbing noses, while sipping their favorite libations.
By 8pm we migrated en masse into the main ballroom, to be greeted with an awesome sight. The lights had been dimmed. Each of the seventeen tables was set with a white tablecloth and blue napkins, along with a mirror-based centerpiece upon which sat a glass bowl filled with red carnations, accented by an encircling ring of lit votive candles. A red cloth tote with a blue PHS’60 50th Class Reunion logo imprint was placed on each chair.  Each tote was stuffed with blue tissue paper along with a travel mug, ball point pen and CD of ‘50s & ‘60s music, all with the PHS’60 logo. Large posters depicting scenes from the “old days” were placed around the room.
Once the oohing and aahing subsided, the revelers sought out their “old friends” and claimed their tables. The lights were raised and the buffet tables on both sides of the room were opened for dining. All agreed that the food selections were excellent, augmented by a choice of red and white wines placed on each table.
As everyone settled down with their food and drink, Pat Lazovick Novack took up the microphone to welcome our classmates and their guests. The highlight of the evening was a performance by the world renowned duo of Latrella & Gordon.  Denny and Cliff went through a loosely scripted cabaret act that included secrets to finding lost classmates after 50 years, comments on the success and diversity of our classmates’ achievements, and a moment of silence dedicated to our 42 departed classmates. Their names appear on the inside cover of the RE-ECHO.  (Sadly, we learned that the names of Kenneth Sgro and C L Mathis had to be added to this list.)
The duo then challenged the assemblage with a list of ”Questions that Challenge”.  (The questions and answers can be found in the RE-ECHO.)
Once the side-splitting laughter abated, the remainder of the evening was spent renewing old friendships, poring through the fabulous 2010 RE-ECHO, and dancing to music of the ‘50s & ‘60s provided by a talented singer/ keyboardist. The party wound down by midnight, one of the consequences of partying with folks of a certain age!
Around 40 classmates and guests showed up for Sunday morning’s “Winding Down” breakfast, all of whom were surprised when the hotel picked up the tab.

Who Attended
Up until the start of the Saturday evening Cocktail Hour, it had seemed that Stewart and Dory Libes had traveled the furthest to attend, from their home in Hawaii. We were amazed when Ronald "DZ" Dzierzawic walked up to the registration table and asked "Where do I sign in?"   "DZ" is a career "Special Ops" military man who had come all the way from Kuwait to attend. (Don't ask what he was doing in Kuwait!)

Who Couldn't Attend
Several of our classmates were looking forward to attending the reunion ... but unexpected last minute issues (all since resolved) necessitated cancellation of their travel plans.
